Announcing Silverlight 5

Due to the fact that Silverlight media solutions have been a part of RichBrains’ service offerings, we were pleased to welcome the 5th edition of Silverlight technology. It is expected to offer new levels of success and acclamation for using it to build web-based projects and media solutions.

According to the Microsoft announcement a beta version of Silverlight 5 will be available in spring 2011, though the general release is expected at the end of the year.

Silverlight 5 adds manifold new features and capabilities that significantly enhance user experience and enable developers to deliver richer solutions with improved performance and productivity. The media features of Silverlight 5 have undergone some major improvements making things easier, faster and more efficient.

The new features include 3D graphics development, the ability to easily manage big amounts of data and ability to do the testing of Silverlight-based applications. The Silverlight TrickPlay feature provides the possibility to play videos at different speeds, it also supports fast-forwarding and rewinding. In addition to all of the above, the new Silverlight 5 will be featuring wireless control of all the media contents by making use of remote controllers.

Besides all the already-mentioned changes, there are many other inclusions that make Silverlight 5 Beta edition a very powerful platform for developing applications for web-based businesses and media solutions.
